Should marital infidelity necessarily lead to divorce?
This question has not emerged out of nowhere. According to a survey conducted by the Associated Press, infidelity was the reason for divorce in 17% of cases. During the same survey 22% of married men and 14% of married women said that they had extra-marital relations. If this is an official statistic, then what is the real number of cheating spouses? It is well-known that people, especially women, don’t always tell the truth during such surveys. Even if they are assured that the survey is anonymous, not everyone would want to reveal intimate details about their life. Therefore, we can assume that the real percentage of people having extra-marital relations is much higher. Peggy Vaughan, author of "The Monogamy Myth," has come to the same conclusion: "60 percent of men and 40 percent of women will have an extramarital affair in their married life."

Most of articles that I wrote contain reviews and my comments on recently happened events. In most cases they are not original, and are a product of compilation of different points of view. As an editor and a columnist I see my task in highlighting different opinions and bringing attention to existing problems, showing strong and weak points of each side.

But when a topic lies in the area of my interests, I try to introduce my own vision of the discussed issues. Here I should tell more about what my own vision is based on. It is based on philosophical approach that might seem unconventional but I think is closer to reality than traditional views. I believe that in order to understand and judge people's actions, we should take into account that a human's behavior first of all is determined by his biological nature, and not by the rules of a society. I think that social limitations affect people's behavior, their beliefs and views in a very hard way. Sometimes it even seems that they are the only rules that regulate people's lives. But it is not true. Deep inside we are still biological creatures, forced to live in accordance with the rules of our society. And here lies the cause of most conflicts and misunderstandings - in contradictions between human nature and social rules and restrictions. This is the core of my philosophical view on social aspects. I use it as a basic principal when exploring and discussing problems of modern western society, and when I present my opinion on the cause of these problems and offer possible solutions for them.

My other belief is that we are living in the period of changing civilizations. It is similar to what happened in the 4th to 6th centuries, when Western and Middle East antic civilizations were swept away by Western civilizations based on Christianity and by Islamic civilization. Now we are in the similar point of history, but at this time it is a turn of modern Western civilization to be swept away.

In my articles I try to express the described above philosophical paradigms, as well as make my contribution to building a better world. I invite you to take them as topics for discussion. By all means please feel free to share your opinion on these topics.
