I was born in Russia, in the Ural mountain region (somewhere deep in Russia, but not that deep as Siberia :). Obviously, my native language is Russian, which explains why there are two parts in this web site: one - in English and another - in Russian.
In 1981 I graduated from university with two qualifications: software engineer and electronic engineer. Then I served in Soviet Army, Air Forces, as an officer. After that I continued my post graduate education obtaining a Ph.D in computer science. This happened almost at the same time as the Soviet Union collapsed (in 1991). This event dramatically changed everything in my life, and after a few years of running a software development business I immigrated to Canada where I'm living now.
I continue running my own business specializing in development of web-oriented software applications and providing services in promotion on the Internet. I manage a number of web portals that were created and maintained by my company, and I mostly act as their editor. Sometimes it is very hard to keep my eye on every aspect of business as well as to be an author of articles and a photographer at the same time, but I like it, even though I complain sometimes:)
After been melted in a Canadian environment and becoming a proud Canadian, I still maintain close connections with my friends and business partners in Russia, Ukraine and other countries from ex-USSR. Actually, most of my articles are written in Russian, because a big part of my business and web portals are meant for Russian-speaking people. I believe that this is good because I play a role of a "bridge" between our two countries.
